--Psalms-- To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation (5:1) Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray (5:2) My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up (5:3) For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee (5:4) The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity (5:5) Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man (5:6) But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple (5:7) Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face (5:8) For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue (5:9) Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee (5:10) But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee (5:11) For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield (5:12) Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the Lord, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite. O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me (7:1) Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver (7:2) O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands (7:3) If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy: (7:4) Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah (7:5) Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded (7:6) So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high (7:7) The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me (7:8) Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins (7:9) My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart (7:10) God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day (7:11) If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready (7:12) He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors (7:13) Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood (7:14) He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made (7:15) His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate (7:16) I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high (7:17) A Psalm of David. Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord; therefore I shall not slide (26:1) Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart (26:2) For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth (26:3) I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers (26:4) I have hated the congregation of evildoers; and will not sit with the wicked (26:5) I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O Lord (26:6) That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works (26:7) Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth (26:8) Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men (26:9) In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes (26:10) But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me (26:11) My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the Lord (26:12) To the chief Musician upon Neginah, A Psalm of David. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer (61:1) From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I (61:2) For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy (61:3) I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah (61:4) For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name (61:5) Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations (61:6) He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him (61:7) So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows (61:8) A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is (63:1) To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary (63:2) Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee (63:3) Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name (63:4) My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips (63:5) When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches (63:6) Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice (63:7) My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me (63:8) But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth (63:9) They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes (63:10) But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped (63:11) To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul (69:1) I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me (69:2) I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God (69:3) They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away (69:4) O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee (69:5) Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel (69:6) Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face (69:7) I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children (69:8) For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me (69:9) When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach (69:10) I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them (69:11) They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards (69:12) But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O Lord, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation (69:13) Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters (69:14) Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me (69:15) Hear me, O Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies (69:16) And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily (69:17) Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies (69:18) Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee (69:19) Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none (69:20) They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink (69:21) Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap (69:22) Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake (69:23) Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them (69:24) Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents (69:25) For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded (69:26) Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness (69:27) Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous (69:28) But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high (69:29) I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving (69:30) This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs (69:31) The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God (69:32) For the Lord heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners (69:33) Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein (69:34) For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession (69:35) The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein (69:36) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord (70:1) Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt (70:2) Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha (70:3) Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified (70:4) But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord, make no tarrying (70:5) A Prayer of David.
